Julie Wilson

Country /Folk /Jazz

Born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, singer/songwriter Julie Wilson moved with her family to Newcastle-on-Hunter as a young child. At the age of 9 Julie was chosen to sing the lead role in a musical version of Cinderella. As a teenager she accepted roles in many local theater productions including the Hunter Valley Theatre Company's West Side Story. While performing in a theatre restaurant in Newcastle, Julie formed a firm friendship with songwriter/producer Mark Tinson who was acting as musical director for the show. Impressed with her vocal ability and ear for harmony, Mark invited Julie to work in his recording studio as a session vocalist. This collaberation eventually resulted in Julie's debut album New Love, released on the 1st of July 2002 on Rouseabout Records. Julie was recently named in the top 5 finalists of the the Newcastle ABC Music Awards for two of her songs from the New Love album: I've Thrown My List Away and This Town.
