Newcastle Music Week 2004

Newcastle Music Week 2004 will be held between the 12th and 18th September 2004.

The week will begin with a launch from 2.00pm on Sunday 12th September at Wheeler Place with a concert featuring The Retro Rockets, Old Sound Central, Cotton Sidewalk and Corn Stalk. Later in the evening enjoy acoustic Song-Writers live at the Delany Hotel from 6.30pm.

On Monday the 13th The Cambridge Hotel will host Monday Metal Madness featuring Flesh Mechanic alongside locals Inane Eminence, 7th Eve and Akuma.

Tuesday the 14th will see Darby Street come alive with soulful acoustic sounds from local artists.

Wheeler place will host the Punk and Grind Skate night on Wednesday 15th beginning at 5.00pm featuring demonstrations from local skate demo crews and music by Something with Numbers, The Ready Series, Supermarket Hero, Angela’s Dish, Falling Til Friday and Distorted Citizen.

A Major Music Expo will be held at Newcastle City Hall on Thursday the 16th of September. $20 entry fee includes Expo Hall, all seminars and workshops. On Thursday evening Beaumont Street will feature music in its many restaurants and cafes on Thursday, alongside a free concert by Pow Wow and The Retro Rockets in James Street Plaza.

Friday 17th September will see Acoustic Songwriters Live in Wheeler Place from 4:30PM to 7:30PM featuring Amy Vee, John Cole Clarke, Daniel Arvidson, Chad Mason and Bob Corbett. Starting at 7:30 PM on Friday at the Civic Theatre Newcastle will be the ‘Expose Yourself’ and ‘Let There Be School of Rock Final’. Finalists in the Expose Yourself competition include Amy Vee, Old Sound Central, Fyna and Jabek aswell as a guest appearance by Sender. Finalists in the ‘School of Rock’ competition will be The Saxby’s (Merewether High), Cadence (Hunter School of Performing Arts), Immune (Callaghan College, Jesmond), Something in Common (from Erina High). The finale of Newcastle Music Week will be held at The Cambridge Hotel from 5PM on Saturday 18th September. Titled ’12-for-12′, that’s 12 bands for 12 bucks! Showcasing Newcastle’s finest including Atomica, Tone Orange, Supersonic, Schlauncher, A Thousand Lights, The Shepherds, Lame Excuse, Virus Crawl, Old Sound Central, The Pints, The Missing People and Cotton Sidewalk.
