Newcastle Music Directory Featured in the Newcastle Herald

The Newcastle Music Directory was featured in an article in the Newcastle Herald on Monday the 17th of October 2005. The article was a follow up from the Newcastle Community Volunteer Awards which were presented several weeks earlier.

2005 ABC 1233 Newcastle Music Awards Winners

The 2005 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards culminated in a special awards night held at the Civic Theatre Newcastle on Thursday the 13th of October.

Several nationally acclaimed artists made appearances on the night including Beccy Cole and Darwin raised Vassy.

Marty Worrall, who rose to fame as a contestant in the 2004 Australian Idol competition, also made an appearance joined by several local musicians. Marty has recently signed to the locally based Style Music Group operated by Phil Tweed. Marty was joined onstage by Phil, Nathan Eshman (winner of 2004 Listener’s Choice Award), Josh Coombes and Pete Drummond.

Other Hunter artists performing on the night included Local Knowledge, Solver, Dean Kyrwood, Fumi Boca, Lenore Bower and Bright Yellow.

Music and Moonlight

Opera Hunter and Life Activities and present “Music and Moonlight” with special guest Peter Cousens. Edward Park, Friday November 11, 2005 at 7.30pm

Enjoy a delightful evening watching the moon rise over the famous hundred year old Norfolk Island pines of King Edward Park while you listen to your favourite pieces from musical theatre and opera.

Opera Hunter, puts its talents behind supporting people with a disability with special guest artist and King of Music Theatre, Peter Cousens joining Maestro Ian Cook and the Music & Moonlight Orchestra in a concert of popular songs, while Opera Australia Diva, Ghillian Sullivan leads Australia’s most successful Regional Opera Company in operatic favourites. With major Hunter artists Craig Everingham, Susan Carson, Meagan Gaffney-Ward and Simone Easthope.

2005 Newcastle Music Awards Finalists Announced

Newcastle Music Directory Recipient of a Newcastle Community Volunteer Award

On Wednesday the 28th of October 2005 the creator of the Newcastle Music Directory, Andrew Goodwin, was the recipient of a Newcastle Community Volunteer Award. The awards were open to people who live or volunteer in the federal electorate of Newcastle, and who are role models of how volunteering can contribute to the lives of others in our community.

The presentation was made by the Federal Member for Newcastle Sharon Grierson at the New Lambton Community Centre.

The Newcastle Music Directory ( is a detailed resource for Newcastle musicians and organisations, providing public access to information including upcoming events and news. The site showcases the music of the Hunter Region, providing access to accurate and interesting information. Since starting the site in 1999, Andrew has committed thousands of voluntary hours to creating and maintaining this comprehensive music directory for Novocastrians.
