2006 A Major Music Expo

The business students of the Music Centre at Hunter TAFE have been working overtime to coordinate A Major Music Expo 2006. The Expo, to be held at Newcastle City Hall on Wednesday November 1, as part of Newcastle Music Week, is the perfect opportunity for music pros, music students, music enthusiasts and music lovers to hear first hand about the music industry from the national experts.

Local bands will have the opportunity to have their demo critiqued by key industry players during a seminar. Representatives from independent labels and music companies will randomly select cds to listen to and offer advice and suggestions on how to increase chances of success at national levels. Bands can register their demos (CD only) on the day of the Expo.

A series of workshops, suited to both beginners and the more advanced musicians, will also be held throughout the day. National diva Shauna Jensen will give away some tips in the vocal workshop, Rob Hirst (Midnight Oil) will share his songwriting prowess, Travis Demsey (ex Living End) will impart drumming secrets, Bruce Mathiske (international virtuoso) will hold a guitar masterclass and other workshops offer video, image, bass, auditioning and performance instruction.

Expo Hall will showcase the latest in music technology. There will be light and sound equipment displays and the latest gizmos and gadgets. Hands on demonstrations of equipment and computers will also be available.

Bookings are recommended and full program details and forms can be downloaded from the website at http://www.newcastlemusicweek.com/. Alternatively, call 49 237420 for more information.
