Congratulations to the genre category finalists in the 2006 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards! Some categories have more finalists than others due to the fact that each category attracts a different amount of entries and in some cases the judges of particular categories thought more than ten tracks deserved to go through for finalist consideration.

The Awards Night (Friday October 20 2006 - Civic Theatre Newcastle) will include the top 5 entrants for each category being announced along with the winner. Specialist categories which will also be Awarded on the night include Best Young Talent, Best Male Vocals, Best Female Vocals, Listener’s Choice, Hunter Broadcaster’s Choice, Central Coast Broadcaster’s Choice, ABC Music Publishing / APRA Songwriter and Composer Recognition Award and ABC Music Best Artist.
