Ray Cairney Benefit Show

Sunday 5th November 2006 Cardiff Panthers “Macquarie Room”

Have a family fun day of music and dancing. All welcome. A benefit day to raise money to help musician Ray Cairney through his stroke rehabilitation.

Ray Cairney was Classical guitar teacher at Newcastle Conservatorium for over 20 years and is a well known and loved Novocastrian musician. Ray had a stroke recently and will be unable to teach or play for some time. Please show your support for Ray and his family by being part of the audience at a musical extravaganza to be held at Cardiff Panthers “Macquarie Room” on Sunday 5th November 2006. Tickets for the daytime show can be purchased from the club prior to the event or at the door. Tickets for the dinner dance need to be purchased prior to 2pm on the day.

The afternoon show (1pm-6pm) will feature well known Novocastrian Jazz bands, country, blues, 50′s/60′s dance band/s, string quartet’s, duo’s, classical guitarist’s, & comedians while the dinner/dance will feature the Allan Ward Big Band and guests from 7pm to 11pm.

Afternoon show Admission (1pm to 6pm)

Adults: $20
Students & Pensioner: $15
Children: $5
Under age 5: Free
Family tickets: $55
Discount for groups of 6 or more adults: $15 each

Buffet Dinner & Dance Admission (7pm to 11pm)

Adults: $50

Seeking Performers

The organizers of the event are seeking professional musicians who can be part of the day and evenings entertainment gifts that can be raffled or used as door prizes. Suitable acts might include Jazz, blues, 50′s/60′s dance band/s, string quartet’s, comedians etc.

The Allan Ward Big Band is Playing from 7pm to 11pm. We need some acts to perform during the breaks between this time. The organisers are negotiating times/availability with everyone this week. You won’t need to supply any equipment. Stage equipment is being supplied by Phi Jack from Music Headquarters. There is an excellent in-house PA system.The organisers are happy to find a sponsor if required who may be able cover any expenses for you to be able to join them.
