Newcastle based musician Dean Kyrwood as created a MySpace page at myspace.com/novocastrianmusic with the intention of showcasing the musical talent of Newcastle

Dean Michael Kearwood“Basically i’m doing this to share with anyone around the world that I’ve meet on myspace … to hear some of the hordes of talent I see and hear in this city” Dean Explains, “there’s a really diverse range of styles going on here, and a big percentage that I think are world class in their genres.”

Dean Kyrwood spent 5 years as the bass player, backing vocalist with Newcastle outfit Little Hornet, releasing five independent albums throughout that period. Since parting ways with Hornet, he has released an EP Aqua Profonda, which has been in the top ten numerous times on mp3.com.au from 2000-2005. Dean was also a top 5 finalist of the 2005 pop category of the 1233 ABC Music Awards with his song My Friends.

Along with regular solo shows in Newcastle, Central Coast and Sydney venues, Dean has recorded his first full album with local producer Karl Brandstater.

Dean now has a full band (Dean Kyrwood and The Alternatives). Other members of the band include Sam Peterson (drums), Cain Horton (guitar) and Cameron Groth (bass) from the award winning band The Evening Son, formerly known as (Paperhalo.

Artists currently featured on Dean’s Novocastrian Music site include Ngariki, Amy Vee and the Virtues, The Common Code, Big City Exile, Amathyst and Draw the Line to name a few. Dean currently has the track “Still Make a Smile” by local band Lout embedded into the page.
