James Brown Tribute Show

Pow Wow James Brown TributePow Wow present a James Brown Tribute Show at the Tighes Hill Social Club on Saturday 27th January 2007. Doors open at 8pm. $10 entry.

Pow Wow is doing a special show to commemorate the passing of the great soul and funk legend James Brown. Boasting Newcastle’s foremost funk, jazz and R&B musicians, POW WOW have entertained local funk and dance aficionados on their occasional gigs for many years.

James Brown has, of course been an influence both on the band and the individual musical interests of the Pow Wow posse, with members from Fish Fry, Pornskas, Pimp, On Inc, Belle Diva and Housequake . Each band owes some measure to the godfather of soul, either in their rhythm or their showmanship. And now its time for the big Payback.

Of course there will only ever be one JB and his show is beyond imitation, so Pow Wow will be working hard just to get the funky job done and give the crowd a soul review to dance to.

POW WOW are Andrew Wallace (trombone & keys) Stuart St Hill (Trumpet) Kim Pink (Sax) Ian Dunn (Guitar) Nic Cecire (Drums) Gina Collins (Bass) Justin Collins (vocals) with special guests Scotty Scott (Percussion & vocals) and Dave Kelly (Sax).

So if you are a fan of the JB funk or just wonder what all the fuss was about between Christmas and New Year when the Soul brother #1 joined the Nightshift, come and check out the James Brown Tribute by Pow Wow at the Tighes Hill Social Club on Saturday 27 January. Doors open at 8. $10 a ticket.

How about throwing this page over to our Pow Wow designated page and then we would at least have a correct photo. Realize you must be flat out keeping up with the variegated monster that is Newc Muse, so please I only offer as a suggestion. Cheers and keep up the good work
