Mark Wells Album Launch

Friday, September 26th, 2008

After returning home from his successful trip to the US, Novocastrian singer-songwriter Mark Wells will release his debut rock album, ‘Until the End’, on Saturday, 11th October at King’s Theatre, Lambton.

Mark Wells“I’m very excited to have this album finally done and to get out and play these songs live with the band” said Wells.

It took the singer-songwriter a little longer than expected to record and produce the album because of his venture into country music, which landed him a trip to Nashville and a Top 50 ARIA Hit with his song “Big Skies” (co-written with Morgan Evans).

In January this year, Wells won the prestigious Road to Tamworth Songwriters Award. His prize included a trip to the US to write songs with some of country music’s best songwriters during the CMA music festival.

“I’m still writing with a lot of those guys and there’s plenty happening with my country stuff,” said Wells, “But this rock album is a labour of love that I became quite attached to and I didn’t want to leave it unfinished.”

Wells self-produced the entire album with good friend Sean Brown, and played many of the instruments on the record.

The Album Launch will feature a live performance by Wells with a full six-piece band consisting of some of Newcastle’s most prominent musicians. Morgan Evans, one of Wells’ long-time songwriting partners will be playing lead guitar, while Morgan’s brother Tom will play bass. Both play in the successful Newcastle band, Solver. The rhythm section will include Dave Carroll and Marty Paget, both of Cotton Sidewalk, and Matt Gaudry, who plays with local artist Limerick and also features on Wells’ debut album.

Be sure not to miss what will be a memorable night! Supported by Cam James and Joe Hamilton.
