Outstanding Talent Entered into the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards

1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards – on air – online – on song

1233 ABC Newcastle Music AwardsOriginal musicians in the Hunter and Central Coast regions went above and beyond with their musical offerings, contributing close to 400 entries for the 2009 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards.

Entries closed last Friday 10 July, with many artists taking advantage of the one week extension. This year’s collection of entries welcomes new and familiar faces, and sees the return of past winners, including a collection of veterans of the local music scene who have been locked away busily writing. The result is a huge mass of brand new and exciting material!

A collaboration between Scott Chapman (On inc) and Chit Chat (Machine Gun Fellatio) otherwise known as The Stick Up Kids have entered tracks from a writing partnership which has spanned 20 years, multiple award winner Amy Vee has returned with a batch of fresh tracks and following a trip to Nashville, Mark Wells has thrown his hat into the country category ring. The Evening Son, The Nickson Wing and Vaudeville head up the rock and alternative categories with Urban Freeflow, Soul Purpose, Nameless Crew and Laird and Lomas contributing to the Urban category, making it stronger than ever.

The judging process runs right through until October, with an Awards presentation taking place in November. Tune into 1233 ABC Newcastle to hear 2009 entrant tracks being played on air across the day.
