What’s Next for the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards

1233 ABC Newcastle Music AwardsThis year sees quite a big change in the way the project is run. The online component has been implemented to encourage interaction between 1233 ABC Newcastle and local musicians, as well as nurture interaction between the musicians themselves. The Newcastle Music Group on ABC Contribute is now the largest Contribute group in Australia thanks to the efforts of this years Music Award entrants.

In regards to the Awards Night and awards announcement process, we’re doing something completely different to past years … and I think you will agree the changes are absolutely fabulous and are in keeping with what is happening in the Music Industry around Australia.

Here are some key dates for your diary and paint a picture of what the rest of the year will entail. Stay tuned to twitter.com/1233musicawards, Facebook, abc.net.au/newcastle and newcastlemusicawards.com for more information about each of these events.

Each Saturday in September between 11am – 2pm L!vesites will be running their inaugural Steel Chef series…. Bringing music into the mix will be a range of 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Award entrants, allowing the Honeysuckle lunchtime crowd to get a taste of the region’s freshest talent. An innovation of this event is that restaurants will be able to broadcast the live music performances from the Boardwalk directly into their restaurant via in house speakers – at a volume level to suit their patrons of course. Get on down and support local music!

Throughout September and October ‘My Musical Space‘ interviews will start to appear on the Dayshift with Carol Duncan and online at www.abc.net.au/newcastle … Online producer Anthony Scully has been inviting himself into the spaces where our local musicians start the process of creating their music….featuring Brian Cain, Jason Lowe, Kristy James, Tad Poe Dee and more
