Paul Robert Burton & The Band Of Gypsys Live at Kantara House

Paul Robert Burton & The Band Of GypsysOn the last Sunday of each month Kantara House in conjunction with MC “DJ Vinnie” is presenting some special shows featuring the amazing sounds of Paul Robert Burton and his “Band of Gypsys”. Many Central Coast residents will know Paul from his work in the area with his iconic band The Shuffle Kings and his extensive list of musical associations with a veritable “who’s who” of the Australian Music Industry.

By definition the word “Kantara” in Arabic means “harmony” and in Swahili means “bridge”. The shows aim to inspire people of all ages and from all walks of life to embrace harmony, build cultural bridges and to perform music as the universal language of unity.

Paul will be introducing a multitude of guest artists from all different cultural backgrounds playing a variety of interesting and unusual musical instruments and pieces. The shows promote the importance of community and “The Arts” in a society focused on science and technology, the multicultural aspects of our nation and to recognise how fortunate we are to be in Australia during the current global climate.

Part of this initiative includes the giveaway of tickets to local schools & community projects that embrace the same ideals. Twenty percent of all ticket sales for this event will be donated to the The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) that urgently needs funds to help those people in crisis globally. Australia for UNHCR is an Australian based charity that raises money for those, especially women & children, displaced by war poverty & conflict.

“As a nation, our respect for rights and freedoms, for the worth and dignity of every human being, is essential to our self-understanding, our identity and our way of life.” – UNHCR Patron – Ms Quentin Bryce.
