The Wickham Park Hotel Rockabilly Festival

The Wicko is proud to present the first Annual Wickham Park Hotel Rockabilly Festival!

With seven amazing acts providing nine hours of live music over two stages The Wicko Rockabilly Festival is sure to become a much loved event for nostalgic 50′s fans.

Wickham Park Hotel Rockabilly FestivalThe Rockabilly Festival is the brain-child of the Hunter’s own hep-cat Pat Capocci. No stranger to the world of big-time rockabilly events, with his music landing him festival slots in Europe and around Australia, Pat wanted to bring some of that attention home – and the Wicko Rockabilly Festival was born. And Pat is bringing some of the country’s best along for the ride:

Danny and the Cosmic Tremors bring authentic bone rattlin’ rhythm and blues within reach of rockin’ hepcats and kittens everywhere, combining traditional raw and authentic 1950′s Rockabilly with an original energetic style all of their own. A feature slot of the Wintersun Rock & Roll festival in Coolangatta attracted rave reviews and cemented the bands reputation as one of the genre’s premier exponents performing today.

Set to take you back way back when is the styling’s of Leah and The Automatic Boys. Western swing meets rockabilly head on when Leah and the boys hit the stage and they are sure to be one of the highlights of the Rockabilly Festival when the kick start the show in the Wicko’s Beer Garden.

Also kicking up a storm in the beer garden will be the Twilight Rhythm Boys. Inspired by the trio legends like Elvis Presley & the Blue Moon Boys and Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two, the Twilight Rhythm Boys offer a fresh and energetic performance that captures the early rockabilly sound with original compositions and choice cover tunes.

Ezra Lee, like good friend Pat Capocci, is another ‘hometown boy done good’ story having performed at the 15th Annual Screaming Festival in Barcelona alongside Bill Haley’s Original Comets as well as at some of Australia’s best gigs (Byron Bay Blues, Wintersun Nostalgia etc). Playing a variety of styles from rock n roll, through country and jumpin’ R&B, Ezra is primed and ready to open the proceedings on the Festival’s indoor stage.

Pat CapocciScott Baker is an Echuca cat who, despite living in virtual rockabilly isolation, has established a name for himself as one of the Australia’s best exponents of rockabilly. Such is his dedication to the Rockabilly lifestyle that he also spends his time importing classic American cars (currently driving a 1950 Buick or his 1951 Pontiac convertible) and is restoring a 1950′s bondwood caravan. And he sings like the man in black.

Of course, it would be remiss not to mention Pat Capocci as a performer as well as a festival instigator. His unique style and charisma combined with his natural song writing ability provide a performance that is high octane and second to none! With a great stage presence and a truly amazing guitar technique Pat has performed with a who’s who of acts including The Sureshots (UK), Big Sandy (USA), Red Rivers & Bruce Mathiske to name but a few.

Amazing as the line-up is, The Wickham Park Hotel Rockabilly Festival is not just about the music. There’ll also be a collection of fine retail market stalls:

  • Press-Tone Music Record Store will sell the best in modern rockabilly vinyl;
  • The Sugarmill Fine Surf Emporium is a surf lifestyle inspired retail collective that reflects the progression of the surfing lifestyle and the like-minded brands, artists, musicians, surfers, shapers and individuals that are at the forefront of that;

  • Miss Fancy Pants will sell vintage inspired retro gear including underwear, swimwear & the best roller derby gear in Oz;

The event kicks off a 3pm and entry is free.
