Jupiter Menace

Maitland based rock band Powerage has now officially changed its name to Jupiter Menace. After 5 and half years and over 500 shows the original line-up is now no more.

Jupiter MenaceIn July 2010, Jeremy and Nikk Minett sadly decided to leave the band to pursue other interests which forced Ben and Zac Crawford to reassess the bands direction.

The band now consists of new members Mitchell Seigers (19) on Rhythm Guitar/Vocals, Ben Grimus (18) on Bass Guitar/Vocals, who join existing members Zac Crawford (15) on Lead Guitar/Vocals and Ben Crawford (19) on Drums/Vocals.

Under the previous name Powerage, Ben and Zac Crawford first tasted notoriety in late 2005 winning a talent competition on the National Rugby Leagues’ “Footy Show” in front of an audience of 15,000 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Over the next few years they were supporting acts like Matchbox 20, Australian bands Thirsty Merc, The Screaming Jets, Grinspoon, The Angels, Bluejuice, Frenzal Rhomb, Amy Meredith and Karnivool.

They have performed on 2MMM’s Ugly Phil program, Channel [V], Rage, The Today Show, The Footy Show, The Crew on SBS, NBN News and went on to play a range of high profile shows including Sydney’s Royal Easter Show and National Rugby League matches including opening for the England Vs New Zealand World Cup match.

POWERAGE surged to a massive crescendo in December 2008, taking out the title of “Australasian Best New Band” in the internationally-recognised Global Battle of the Bands competition. Representing their country, the band performed in London against bands from 35 other countries, taking out 2nd place.

Their Debut E.P released in March 2009 titled “Get Ready” and music video for their single “Let’s Jam” takes influence from classic rock bands like Deep Purple and ACDC and had 5 star reviews in several magazines and was well received by fans in Australia and overseas.

In early 2010 the band went on to win NSW major band competition Youth Rock and performed at the MusicOz Independent Music Awards in Sydney as well as winning best school band.

The band’s sound has been evolving over the past year, as primary songwriters, Ben and Zac Crawford have been influenced by a wider range of bands including Paramore, 30 seconds to Mars and Linkin Park.

The band now known as JUPITER MENACE, is currently working on their Debut E.P and video clips under the new name which will be self titled and features 7 new killer tracks.

This E.P when released will be available through iTunes, Musicadium, Amazon, CD Baby and CDs can be purchased at their gigs.
