Local Music Review on 2NUR FM

2NUR FM will be airing a program featuring music from the Newcastle region from 10PM on Monday, December 6, 2010. The program will be hosted by Giles Carney and Andrew Goodwin.

  • Chris ByrneGlide
    Chris Byrne is Central Coast based singer/songwriter. He won the Adult Contemporary category in the 2007 Newcastle Music Awards with this song. Chris is playing next Sunday night (12/12/2010) at The Dockyard at Honeysuckle.
  • LimerickDangerous Love
    This track was a finalist in the Alternative category in the 2008 Newcastle Music Awards.
  • Amy VeeAll In Me
    Amy was the singer in “On”, Winners of the 2003 Best Artist Award at the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards. Amy also performed with her band “Amy Vee and the Virtues”. Over the past few years she has begin performing solo. Amy Vee will be playing at the QWB next Thursday, December 9.
  • Dukes of ErlingtonUnderestimated
    Erling Gronhaug, aka The Duke, is a Norwegian who moved to Newcastle in 2000. He has been very active in the local music scene over the past 10 years, performing in Mousemoon and many other successful bands. Listen to the track here.
  • The Evening SonAll aboard the Boat Wherever
    This track won the Rock category in the 2009 Newcastle Music Awards.

  • Heart Attack and VineCheshire Cat
    Newcastle based rock/blues band influenced by Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, Guns n’ Roses, The Cult, Aerosmith, Audioslave, Rolling Stones. This track and several others are available from the band’s MySpace profile. Heart Attack and Vine will be playing New Years Eve at the Wickham Park Hotel
  • HanselMurder 101
    Newcastle’s own gods of glam rock! This track was taken from their “Mission to Rock” EP that was released in 2008.

  • GrandvueHopes of a Better Futures
    Formerly known as ‘Cadence’, Grandvue are named after the street they grew up on, Grandview Road in New Lambton Heights. Great guitar work from lead guitarist Tom Shepherd. Vocalist Jerome O’Conner now performs in State of Grace.
  • HighlanderThe Craiced Fiddle
    This highly acclaimed Celtic rock band perform in kilts and often have Scottish dancers at their gigs.

  • BenjaluSo High
    Benjalu won the Blues and Roots category in the 2009 Newcastle Music Awards with this song. Benjalu were the winners of Youthrock ’06 and also took out the “Silverchair Songwriting Award” in the same competition. They are one of the region’s hardest working bands, touring extensively and playing over 150 shows a year! Catch them in Newcastle at Queens Wharf Brewery on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 2:00pm.
  • Bob CorbettThe Prettiest Face
    Bob is an amazing performer. He has played in many local bands over the past 15 years including popular duo Loonatic Fringe. This track is taken from his album Storyboard. He launched this album at the Gallipoli Legion Club in September 2008. When Bob plays this track live he records a few bars of the song at a time into a “loop pedal”, building the song layer by layer, it is really something to see live.

  • Adam MillerTraffic
    Adam is an accomplished guitarist that has performed in numerous local bands. This track is taken from Adam’s latest album “Out of My Hands”. The recording features prominent local musicians Peter Gray on bass and Nic Cecire on drums. Adam won the Instrumental category at the 2009 Newcastle Music Awards with this track.
